The Opportunity

Alcohol-based events are a great experience.
But there are clear opportunities to improve the experience for customers at each stage.

As someone who has enjoyed taking part in many alcohol-based trails over the years, I've always felt there was more that could be done to make the experience truly memorable and ensure that I am left with information about my drinking preferences to inform future purchases. And with CAMRA's 220+ branches organising events across the UK - including festivals that individually draw tens of thousands of visitors - this is a far bigger market than most people realise.

Before the Event

Forgettable first impressions

Participants receive a plain paper ticket or a generic PDF. There's nothing that builds excitement, communicates the brand, or makes the experience feel like a proper occasion.

During the Event

No way to capture the journey

People visit stop after stop with nothing to record what they tried, how they rated it, or help them remember their highlights. The experience slips away the moment they leave.

After the Event

The conversation ends too soon

Once the trail is over, organisers have no way to delight participants further. There's no personalised takeaway, no reason to talk about it, and no easy route back to the brands involved. General apps like Untappd exist for beer discovery, but nothing on the market is built specifically for the organised trail event experience.

How TrailTaste Works

Value added at every stage

TrailTaste enhances the customer journey from the moment someone signs up, through every stop on the day, to the personalised profile they receive at the end. The shift towards experiential leisure is only accelerating - the UK experiential marketing sector is expected to grow by 20% in 2025 alone, and organised food and drink experiences already represent a leisure market worth billions.

Common Questions

Frequently asked questions

Do participants need to download an app?

No - TrailTaste works entirely via a link sent to participants before the event. Everything opens in their mobile browser with zero friction. No installation, no sign-up, no barriers.

What types of events does TrailTaste work for?

TrailTaste is designed for any organised alcohol-based tasting experience - ale trails, whisky tastings, wine events, gin tours, cider trails, craft beer festivals, and more. If participants are moving between venues or tasting stations and rating what they drink, TrailTaste fits.

How quickly can it be set up for my event?

Setup is straightforward. Once you share your event details - venues, date, and branding - TrailTaste can be configured well ahead of your event day. Get in touch to discuss your specific timeline.

Can it be branded in my organisation's colours and logo?

Yes - the digital gift ticket, on-the-day tracker, and AI taste profile are all fully branded to your event and organisation. Your participants experience it as part of your event, not a third-party tool.

What do participants actually receive at the end?

After completing the event, each participant receives a personalised AI taste profile based on their own ratings and tasting notes. It identifies their flavour preferences, highlights their top-rated stops, and suggests drink styles for them to explore. It can be emailed directly and is designed to be saved, shared, and remembered long after the day.

Is there a minimum number of participants?

No minimum. TrailTaste works equally well for intimate tastings of 20 people and large events of several hundred. Pricing scales to the size of your event.

How is participant data handled?

Participant data - ratings, tasting notes, and profile results - is processed in line with UK GDPR. It is used solely to generate personalised taste profiles and is never sold or shared with third parties without consent. See the Privacy Policy for full details.

How much does TrailTaste cost?

Pricing is event-based - there's no subscription or long-term commitment, just a quote based on your event size. As an early-access partner you'll benefit from preferential launch pricing. Get in touch to discuss.

Can I see it in action before committing?

That's exactly what the 15-minute demo call is for. No obligation - just a relaxed walkthrough of what TrailTaste looks like for your specific type of event. Book a time that suits you.

About Kieran, the Founder

A career understanding what people really think

My name is Kieran Griffiths. I've spent my career working in market research - understanding consumer behaviour, what drives satisfaction, and where brands leave value on the table. During that time I've worked with many alcohol brands around the world, giving me a genuine depth of understanding of alcohol consumers and the experiences that bring them together. That research background is also how I know the opportunity here is real: the UK leisure events market is valued at £7.7 billion, consumer spending on experiences like eating and drinking out grew by over 7% last year, and the appetite for memorable, personalised experiences shows no sign of slowing down.

That professional lens is something I carry into every experience I have as a consumer. And ale trails are no exception.

"I've enjoyed taking part in many alcohol-based trails over the years. But I've always felt there was more that could be done to make the experience truly memorable - and to leave participants with something genuinely useful about their own drinking preferences."

TrailTaste is the product of that observation. It's designed by someone who understands what participants actually remember - and what organisers are missing out on. Every touchpoint has been thought through from both sides of the experience.

The result is a platform that's easy to implement for event organisers, delightful to use for participants, and leaves everyone with something genuinely worth keeping.

And it would be remiss of me not to share what I have discovered about my own drinking preferences through TrailTaste. After tracking my own ale trail experiences, the platform identified me as The Session Purist - and it's hard to argue with that. I gravitate strongly towards blondes and pale ales: crisp, clean, and refreshing rather than heavy or complex. I can appreciate the occasional hop-forward beer, but only a couple before I'm ready to return to something more sessionable. Fruity ales have never appealed to me - I prefer clarity of flavour over novelty. And while I genuinely enjoy a good stout, it works best as an occasional interlude between paler choices. TrailTaste put that into words more precisely than I ever had before - which is exactly the kind of insight it's designed to give every participant.
